It’s Independence Day….let Freedom Ring…..

I have the Martina McBride song in my brain - Independence Day.

For Friday - We have plans to go swimming at my FIL’s and then visit with my brother and his family who live right behind the Fairgrounds to set off our own fireworks/sparklers (which Alan bought a boat load of this afternoon) and watch the traditional fireworks be set off.   Kara is very excited about the whole day.

Saturday - Reveolution - Baseball!  Where we will see more fireworks and spend time in the kids playard, I am sure we will search for Downtown also.

I think I will be taking naps both days, I am just exhausted and sick.  Sigh……….this sucks.  I am tired of being poked, prodded and popping pills and it has only just begun…..

OMG - this is hilarious - one of my friends posted this on her blog, I love it!  As I said earlier Duct Tape has so many uses:

“In Plain Sight”

OK, I have to say, I really love this show.  I am almost as addicted to it as I am with Law & Order: CI.  What sucks is that it is on Sundays @ 10pm - which is past my bedtime, so I DVR it and watch it when I am awake.  I love Mary on the show, she is so blunt, rude and straightforward.   I think she reminds me of myself - but I am not as bad - or am I???  Hmm….I will have to ask people that know me…..

Here is the link:  http://www.usanetwork.com/series/inplainsight/

That is really all for now, just had to say how much I love the show.  Other than that Chuck-E-Cheese was quite Fun for Kara and I this afternoon- I will have to post the pictures.  Kara was so scared of Chucky, I had to laugh (of course I felt bad then, but it was hilarious to see her facial expression), they invited to the kids to come up with the person costumed as Chucky to sing Happy Birthday, Kara ran the other way to me.    Too bad I couldn’t get a picture of her face!

It’s Friday - FINALLY

It’s FINALLY Friday.  That says it all.

I can’t believe what a week it has been - CRAZY and HOT describes my week perfectly.  The A/C was still not fixed at work today, and the last thing I heard (about an hour ago), was that it won’t be fixed until MONDAY.  Good thing it is the weekend, I won’t have to hear anymore complaints until Monday.  I am tired of answering the question ”Why is it hot in here, is the A/C broken?”  Um, no I just want to save on the electric bill this month so I decided to turn the A/C off on one of the hottest days of the month (seriously, that answer did come out of my mouth at some point before I left for the day) and other stupid questions along those lines. I am tired of being rude, well ok, I really don’t mind being rude, just tired of answering stupid questions.  Though I believe I came up with a creative way to dispose of those people that piss me off…………  LOL!

Really, I don’t want to think about work until then either, but it won’t happen - especially since the end product gets delivered to my driveway every morning, not that I have had a chance to read my paper in the past 2 weeks or so, well I did read yesterday mornings paper last night, better late than never I guess.    And part of my job is to read the paper and find any quality problems - guess I am slacking there a little bit.  I promise to do my job this weekend and read the paper. :)

I think I am finally caught up at home - I finally got all the pictures from the beach edited, cropped, etc. and sent them off to Kodak to get printed.  I love being able to sit at home and pick the pictures I want and how I want them to look and then have them mailed to me.

Not too much planned for the weekend, Kara has a birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese tomorrow, it will her first time there.  Not that I have been there for quite a while, um….about 20 years or so I think?  I was trying to figure that out earlier today and I think it has been that long.   I went to Toys-R-Us today and bought a gift the party, so now it just needs to be wrapped, I will let Kara do that tomorrow morning.   She loves the gift I picked out - she wanted to know if I got her one like it.  The answer is NO.  Not after my bill at the pharmacy on Wednesday night.

I think we will attempt to go swimming on Sunday.  I also want to get some flowers/plants to put in my pots outside, I got some planted in the flower beds a few weeks ago, but I held off on the flower pots until I was home from vacation, I was afraid they would die while we were away.  I think we have tickets to Sunday’s baseball game, but I think Kara and I will stay home (we will be ready for bed before it is over), we have tickets for next Saturday (7/5) nights game with the fireworks after the game, so we will all go then.

Holy Cow it’s Thursday already!

This is one of my favorite pictures from the beach…..One of my Favorite Pictures

Jeez, where has my week gone already?  It has been really busy at work - catching up from being off last week, my desk is finally getting cleared and I am caught up to yesterday’s press runs.  Of course end of month is next week - so next week will be just as crazy, thankfully next Friday is a holiday, not that it really matters as it is my day off anyway.  Maybe Kara will sleep in that morning (at least until 7am would be nice), I haven’t had a morning to sleep in for almost 2 months………. (couldn’t even begin to tell you another time before that one)

Today has been an especially crazy day, yesterday too.  I sat on the highway for about 40 minutes this morning on my way to the Lab and work.  I especially enjoyed listening to the traffic news where they said there were no problems on the highways…um, yeah right. And I had not had ANY coffee, so thankfully no one was in the car with me.  Then of course since it is 90 degrees outside the AC that was just finally fixed yesterday morning blew up mid-morning - of course it is the unit that affects my office (along with a few others), and I am always hot!  The last phone call I got about an hour ago, the technician said that he still had not figured out what caused the AC to stop working and did NOT know how long it would take for him to figure it - he had already been there since 1pm.  So I guess he will be there when I get in tomorrow.   Thank God that bill is not MY bill.

Yesterday I drove an hour to see my GI (who I really do like) to listen to a little bit of a lecture, get a lab slip and a prescription that ended up costing me $245, that I have to have filled monthly for at least the next 3 months! Ack!!  Plus I get the pleasure of going back to see him in 3 weeks, at least he didn’t say that nasty “C” word (i.e. colonoscopy)  Sigh….but hey we finally figured out why I haven’t been able to get the anemia under control for the last 6 months.   In other words, at this point I am considered not in remission anymore from the Crohn’s Disease - my GI expects to get this under control within a few months with meds.  Oh yes, I also have to make sure I don’t loose too much more weight.  Um, that is going to be next to impossibleto prevent, but I will try.  But hey,  the Lupus is fully under control.  I see my Rheumy in 2 weeks, so I am sure to get another lecture, and another lab slip.  Sigh….it’s no wonder my head hurts, I’m exhausted, and I feel the need for a few drinks.   Hmm….now do I have any coke to go with my Dogfish Head Rum?  I think my safety stock of coke is low - very low, in other words NONE! Ack!

When we were in Rehoboth last week, we went to Dogfish Head Brewery/Restaurant to eat (one place we all like and the atmosphere is great!).  www.dogfish.com   They make their own beer and spirits - I am not really a beer drinker - unless it is Yuengling of course, but I decided to try their seasonal Festina Peche Beer - is was ok, but I especially enjoyed their own “Brown Honey Rum”  (here is their description:  Dogfish Head Brown Honey Rum is a double-distilled, amber rum aged on American oak and Wildflower Honey. Dark and smooth, this rum has a subtle woody character from the oak ageing and a touch of sweetness from the honey.)  It was really good with coke - I could definitely get used to having this all the time, but still love my Bacarrdi and Coke, also it was quite pricey.  I also had some of the new Bacardi Mojito - not bad, but I still like the old standby.

Kara started summer camp this week, so far so good - she is enjoying seeing a lot of her friends from school, which makes it easier on me - less stress for me, and no tears for her!

My broken toe is starting to feel better, I was finally able to wear a pair of heels to work - I have been wearing flip-flops all week, which everyone seemed to think was hilarious at work - the guys found the whole situation funny.  Especially after I told them how it happened.  It will be nice when it heals a bit more so I can get back to the jogging routine, I am not a happy camper since my exercise routine has been messed up.  Hopefully by next week I will be able to get back to the normal routine.  But then I have NO idea of what NORMAL is anymore…..anyone know what normal is?

Beach Bums and other stuff

Ok, I am finally getting a chance to update with pictures.  We had a nice week at the beach, great weather - even though the ocean was FREEZING!  We did a lot - went to (3) beaches, saw a lighthouse, rode bikes, went outlet shopping, went to Dogfish Head to eat (and drink), built huge sandcastles, went Slip-n-Sliding (sorry, no pictures of me sliding though), had a water ballon fight, and oh yes - I broke my toe.  (thankfully I did that at the end of the week and not the beginning).

Here are some of the pictures from the trip:

So as you can see we spent a LOT of time at the beach!  We went to Cape Henolopen State Park Beach, Rehobeth Beach and Fenwick Island State Park Beach.  The weather was really nice - it was actually chilly some of the time when we went to the beach, most days the water was about 62 degrees - that is COLD, it felt like it was numbing your feet when you got in.

Vacation is OVER….as someone told me earlier…

Ok, I have returned, unfortunately I didn’t get to update this becuase my internet connection was pretty much non-exsistant.  I couldn’t hop on the neighbors network like I could last time.  So I intend to update this tomorrow at some point….I hope.

Look out beach here I come!!!!

I am a little behind in posting it seems, this week has been absolutely crazy between working and stuff at home.  It has been a little hectic with Kara not having summer camp start until after we get back from vacation, so she has been at my mom’s while I have been at work (Monday - Wednesday) and she spent the day at work with me today - I did get a lot done, thanks to my boss and the TV in his office and the fact that lots of people stop in my office or Tom’s to talk to her.  Amazingly I cleared my desk completely (though I expect to come back to piles) and actually got caught up - well almost, I have a few things to do at home tomorrow and I will work over the weekend or at the latest Monday to get some Press Orders for next week - but hey I can handle it - I can work from the beach house in my PJ’s. :)  And I did promise that I would check my email daily, but I am still considering myself on vacation….hm…..now how did I agree to that and why?  Well since I plan to update this while on vacation with pictures from the beach and last week (Girl Scout picnic, etc.) and I need my laptop to do that, I might as well check my email and stuff - ok, I will admit it I won’t be able to help myself from checking my email - I am crazy arn’t I?  As Tom and I agreed this morning, we start our work day way too early and just can’t stop when we leave the office for the day…..how true that is…..

I think that just about everything is packed for tomorrow except the last minute stuff and the stuff I have yet to get out of the dryer - that’s next on my to do list.  I have Kara’s suitcase packed and I can hear her in her room going through it and adding stuff (she is to be in bed sleeping, but I can hear her talking to herself about what she is going to take), I guess I will be repacking her suitcase tomorrow morning….oh well.

I am so ready to just sit on a beach chair and watch the waves hit the sand……nothing beats the view from a beach chair and listening to the sound the water makes as it hits the shore…..I am so ready for the sand between my toes (and Kara burying my feet in the sand)…….and Kara asking the whole 3 hour ride “Are we there yet?” (ok, I could do without that, but what kind of road trip would it be if no little voice asked that question every 5 minutes?)

Graduation Day Photos

We got some really good pictures from Graduation, here are some of my favorites!  Enjoy!

The little graduate thinking

So serious isn’t she..

   K

Kara and Evie - Evie will be the next to graduate…well in about 3 years or so! :)

It's official - I graduated!

It’s official - I have graduated!!!

It’s Graduation Day….

Yes, it is graduation day for Kara.  I think we are ready.  She has been singing the ceremony songs to me since I picked her up from school this morning - something that goes to the tune of “The Addams Family” - so needless to say I now have that song in my brain - constantly.

Since we had a half day and were out late last night, Kara and I took naps this afternoon - I miss naptime desparately.  It should be a law that everyone should have a nap during their day at some point.

After naptime we played outside - ok, to be accurate, Kara ran through the sprinkler and I read the newspaper on the deck under the awning with a glass of iced tea.

Before I forget and since I said I would put up a video of Kara’s Cartwheeling (which seems to be getting better) - here it is for Lita (I hope you enjoy this one as much as you enjoyed the other ones!)

I believe that she is getting better………what do you think?

Kara’s Last week of School ALREADY!!!

June 3rd - I am a little behind this week it seems.  I have been very busy at work and at home, I will try to update this at some point tonight!

June 4th - ok, so I never got a chance to update this last night, but I am now………… What a BUSY week it has been, and next week promises to be just as busy! I have been very busy at work, starting most of the days this week early because of appts and trying to get my hours all in before I leave early on Thursday to pick Kara up from school.   School is winding down this week, today is Kara’s last full day of school, the next 2 are just half days.  Tomorrow night is Kindergarten Graduation - I can’t believe a full school year has passed us by already, time has flown by - my baby is graduating!  Yeah, I know it is only from Kindergarten, but STILL!   We have been practicing her lines for the ceremony, got her a new dress to wear and the family invited to see her wear a cap and gown.  Yes, she will wear a little cap and gown - and of course a tassel that we get to keep.   Kinda crazy if you ask me for a 6 year old.   That will be the excitement for tomorrow.   Kathy - I promise that I will post pictures of the “Little Graduate” when I get a chance.   Next week is “Grammy Camp” for Kara - she will spend the time while I am at work, at my Mom and Dad’s - she is very excited for next week, she is on a countdown to next Monday.

Tonight we have a Rev’s game to go to with my work, get to be in the sky-box for the first time this year, last year it wasn’t finished completely (construction wise) when we were in it.  Hopefully it won’t thunderstorm while we are there - it seems the storms are moving through now and will be gone before the games.  The game got rained out in the 6th inning last night so they are finishing up that game tonight and having the regularly scheduled one after that one.  Cool.

Tomorrow morning bright and early I go  to have my arm poked at AGAIN to see where my red blood count is at.   Sigh……I had a hamburger this past weekend again, so maybe it will help that level out - hopefully help it go UP.   I also really hate having to fast before lab work, and it really sucks because we will be out at the game tonight and won’t eat until late, so I will have to make sure I watch what time I stop eating.  I also hate having to get up in the morning and not have ANY coffee until after they take their tubes of blood - which means NO coffee until I get to work - ACK!  That means I am up for about 1 1/2 hours without ANY coffee!!  I mean really, how is one to function or even be nice without having coffee when you first get up in the morning?  Apparently though, I’m not too mean without coffee - I think if I was the guys at work would run from me.  I have been known to bite a persons head off if I haven’t had any coffee - I must be improving.  I will admit that I have been cutting back the past week or so - by 1 cup a day (and I have a very large cup at work).  :)

Knock on wood, after tomorrows lab work, I don’t think I will have to go again until the first week of July!  I will be celebrating (with a drink I believe) the fact that my arm will get a break from being poked at for a few weeks.

Monday night was our last Daisy Girl Scout meeting, Sunday afternoon we have the “Bridging To Brownies” ceremony and picnic - I found out that I need to buy the Brownie Vest before Sunday - she has to have it for the bridging ceremony.  I guess that we will be going to the Girl Scout store after Kara gets off school Friday morning.
