This is one of my favorite pictures from the beach…..
Jeez, where has my week gone already? It has been really busy at work - catching up from being off last week, my desk is finally getting cleared and I am caught up to yesterday’s press runs. Of course end of month is next week - so next week will be just as crazy, thankfully next Friday is a holiday, not that it really matters as it is my day off anyway. Maybe Kara will sleep in that morning (at least until 7am would be nice), I haven’t had a morning to sleep in for almost 2 months………. (couldn’t even begin to tell you another time before that one)
Today has been an especially crazy day, yesterday too. I sat on the highway for about 40 minutes this morning on my way to the Lab and work. I especially enjoyed listening to the traffic news where they said there were no problems on the highways…um, yeah right. And I had not had ANY coffee, so thankfully no one was in the car with me. Then of course since it is 90 degrees outside the AC that was just finally fixed yesterday morning blew up mid-morning - of course it is the unit that affects my office (along with a few others), and I am always hot! The last phone call I got about an hour ago, the technician said that he still had not figured out what caused the AC to stop working and did NOT know how long it would take for him to figure it - he had already been there since 1pm. So I guess he will be there when I get in tomorrow. Thank God that bill is not MY bill.
Yesterday I drove an hour to see my GI (who I really do like) to listen to a little bit of a lecture, get a lab slip and a prescription that ended up costing me $245, that I have to have filled monthly for at least the next 3 months! Ack!! Plus I get the pleasure of going back to see him in 3 weeks, at least he didn’t say that nasty “C” word (i.e. colonoscopy) Sigh….but hey we finally figured out why I haven’t been able to get the anemia under control for the last 6 months. In other words, at this point I am considered not in remission anymore from the Crohn’s Disease - my GI expects to get this under control within a few months with meds. Oh yes, I also have to make sure I don’t loose too much more weight. Um, that is going to be next to impossibleto prevent, but I will try. But hey, the Lupus is fully under control. I see my Rheumy in 2 weeks, so I am sure to get another lecture, and another lab slip. Sigh….it’s no wonder my head hurts, I’m exhausted, and I feel the need for a few drinks. Hmm….now do I have any coke to go with my Dogfish Head Rum? I think my safety stock of coke is low - very low, in other words NONE! Ack!
When we were in Rehoboth last week, we went to Dogfish Head Brewery/Restaurant to eat (one place we all like and the atmosphere is great!). www.dogfish.com They make their own beer and spirits - I am not really a beer drinker - unless it is Yuengling of course, but I decided to try their seasonal Festina Peche Beer - is was ok, but I especially enjoyed their own “Brown Honey Rum” (here is their description: Dogfish Head Brown Honey Rum is a double-distilled, amber rum aged on American oak and Wildflower Honey. Dark and smooth, this rum has a subtle woody character from the oak ageing and a touch of sweetness from the honey.) It was really good with coke - I could definitely get used to having this all the time, but still love my Bacarrdi and Coke, also it was quite pricey. I also had some of the new Bacardi Mojito - not bad, but I still like the old standby.
Kara started summer camp this week, so far so good - she is enjoying seeing a lot of her friends from school, which makes it easier on me - less stress for me, and no tears for her!
My broken toe is starting to feel better, I was finally able to wear a pair of heels to work - I have been wearing flip-flops all week, which everyone seemed to think was hilarious at work - the guys found the whole situation funny. Especially after I told them how it happened. It will be nice when it heals a bit more so I can get back to the jogging routine, I am not a happy camper since my exercise routine has been messed up. Hopefully by next week I will be able to get back to the normal routine. But then I have NO idea of what NORMAL is anymore…..anyone know what normal is?
